TMJ-Related Chronic Neck and Shoulder Pain Treatment and Migraine Headache Relief

Aqualizer® Technique
TMD disorders are both a medical and a dental problem. Though generally unrecognized as such, the effect of occlusion is universal – everything from vision to posture can be adversely affected when the bite is not in harmony with the body. The result can be a wide variety of difficult-to-diagnose symptoms, including chronic migraine headache and back, neck, and shoulder pain. Relief is now available with the Aqualizer®’s bite splint system.

The cranio-mandibular relationship, established by the occlusion of the teeth, is often the cause. Unfortunately, the acceptability of this relationship is difficult to assess by any professional, whether dentist, physician, or physical therapist. The Aqualizer® allows the patient’s own muscles to both determine whether the cranio-mandibular relationship is responsible for the problem, and if so, then to automatically correct it. For the therapist, this solves a vexing and previously unsolvable problem.

The Aqualizer® is invaluable to every medical professional providing chronic migraine headache or back, neck, and shoulder pain relief. In up to 75 percent of these patients, the position of the jaw is either the trigger of pain symptoms or a major contributing factor.

Aqualizer® treatment applications

  • Have patient wear the Aqualizer® before treatment to help establish a differential diagnosis, and to relax the bilateral musculature of the head, neck, and shoulder area. This facilitates therapy and allows you to work on relaxed muscles.
  • Have patient wear the Aqualizer® during treatment to eliminate the occlusal triggering of symptoms created by patient clenching. This increases your effectiveness by providing stability during therapy.
  • Have patient wear the Aqualizer® after or between sessions, as often or as sparingly as needed, either while sleeping or during daytime periods of stress or pain, to control symptoms and prolong the benefits of therapy.

Effective chronic neck and shoulder pain treatment and easy migraine headache relief

As a healer, you are often faced with painful symptoms that originate from an invisible cause. This occlusion of the teeth can force the muscles into constant accommodation, triggering pain. This problematic relationship between the occlusion and this type of pain is rarely obvious or even visible. The Aqualizer® quickly reveals the problem. If the pain is originating in the occlusion, in most patients you should see a dramatic decrease in pain within about 20 to 30 minutes of insertion. Patients suffering from chronic neck and shoulder pain generally require a day or two of part-time wear during periods of stress, when symptoms are present, or when sleeping.

The Aqualizer® makes your treatments easier, more effective, and more comfortable. Have your patients wear an Aqualizer® for 20 to 30 minutes prior to their treatment. Their muscles will begin to relax, which will facilitate your treatment because you will be working with muscles that are already relaxing. It is also a good idea to allow patients to keep the Aqualizer® inserted during treatments because the fluid cushions provide a better clenching surface.

Accurate, immediate differential diagnosis

Use an Aqualizer® as your first test to definitively diagnose whether the problem is occlusion related. Rapid pain relief with the Aqualizer® confirms that the pain is originating from the occlusion, rather than from an organic or intracapsular (joint) source. For example, if a patient has a migraine headache, after pain relief from the Aqualizer® it will be apparent that the pain was a result of malocclusion. The Aqualizer® is a conservative, reversible, inexpensive test.

Make healing more comfortable

The Aqualizer®’s fluid system may relieve chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain and provide migraine headache relief by taking the pressure off painful joints and muscles, cushioning and floating the jaw. The fluid-filled Aqualizer® provides bilateral balance and perfectly distributed occlusal forces. Muscle pain can be dramatically relieved and healing can begin immediately. Your patients will appreciate this highly effective, drugless relief of pain.

The Aqualizer® eliminates muscle spasm by providing temporary, but optimal, occlusal-muscle harmony, helping the muscles heal themselves. This benefit saves treatment time while increasing your patient’s comfort.

The Aqualizer® is inserted directly from its individual packaging. It does not require any prior preparation. Using the Aqualizer® makes it easy for you to economically provide a high degree of patient satisfaction. Keep the Aqualizer® on hand for quick use and quick results!

Note: Patients should not exceed eight hours of Aqualizer® wear per 24-hour period.
